The Two Faces of Islam

A severely critical assessment of the form of Islam known as Wahhabism, and its role in present-day politics, especially via its sponsor the House of Saud. Schwartz sees Wahhabism as intolerant and totalitarian, and says it is a source of terror whose adherents present a threat both to those inside Saudi Arabia and to the world. He also cites what he sees as their prime role in the events of September 11, 2001. Schwartz says the U.S. is making a serious mistake in supporting the House of Saud in order to keep oil flowing.
